2011 REPORT
Where do we begin with this one then!!2011was a very big year with us recording a total of 155 irish specimen fish (11 diffrent species) 3 new irish records 1 still to be ratified. The spurdog record was once again broken along with the black mouth dogfish and are both returning to the netherlands a big well done to the dutch lads.A total of 50 specimen fish were recorded in the year 2011 from the netherlands and am proud to say that 88% of them came from red bay and 100% of the belgium specimens also came from red bay.Weather wasnt good to us in 2011 and many planed trips had to be shelved and quite a few offshore shark trips also had to be cancelled but we still managed to boat a grand total of 33 porbeagle sharks up to the 3oolb mark.Another 4 of the boys will be recieving their silver tie pin (10) irish specimen fish with a few of the lads just missing out ah well always next year. The big talking point of 2011 was the 2 monster sharks that straightened the 2 12/0 forged hooks like a paper clips both these fish were fought for over 90 mins and not even a sighting of either fish and i strongly believe that the porbeagle shark record of 365lbs taken in 1932 will fall in the year 2012 as i have personally seen 2 fish under the boat at over 3 meters. All thats left for me to say is a big thank you to the ISFC for all there hard work as the work the guys do down in dublin is amazing and to all my overseas anglers and my 5 specimen clubs and everyone who fished with me in 2011 and tight lines to you all for the next season.
